About Me
Annie Szalkai, Registered Psychotherapist
Hi, welcome! I’m Annie, a Registered Psychotherapist based in Toronto, Ontario, and I’m honoured to support individuals on their journey toward mental well-being. With a deep commitment to creating a safe, inclusive, and trauma-informed space where you can feel understood, heard, and respected.
As a first-generation Canadian, I have a personal understanding of the unique challenges that come with managing bicultural identities. I am passionate about helping individuals navigate the complexities of balancing multiple cultural expectations and identities, especially for those who are first- and second-generation immigrants.
I specialize in working with adults and elders dealing with various life challenges, including relationship issues, family dynamics, grief, self-esteem, as well as anxiety and depression. My approach is rooted in fostering self-awareness, confidence, and resilience. In therapy, I walk alongside you as we explore your personal experiences, develop deeper insights, and work toward creating lasting change. Together, we will address the obstacles that hold you back, empowering you to lead a more fulfilling and balanced life.
Outside the Therapy Space
When I’m not in the therapy space, you’ll often find me exploring the beautiful city of Toronto, discovering new spots, or getting lost in a good book. I enjoy spending time with family and love staying active, whether it’s through outdoor adventures or simply enjoying life’s little moments.

My Process
Therapy is a collaborative process designed to support you in creating meaningful, lasting change. Through virtual therapy, I help clients work through anxiety, stress, burnout, and life transitions in a way that feels supportive and personalized.
-
We begin by exploring your experiences, challenges, and what’s brought you to therapy. This helps build a strong foundation of trust while also identifying your goals and what you want for your next chapter.
-
Together, we explore what matters most to you—your values, needs, and the changes you’d like to see. From there, we shape a clear and personalized direction for therapy.
-
Each session supports you in building insight, developing tools to manage anxiety and stress, and creating meaningful change at a pace that feels right for you. As your needs evolve, our work adapts to continue supporting your growth.
My Counselling Approach
At Your Next Chapter Psychotherapy, I believe that every individual deserves a personalized therapeutic experience. At the heart of my work is a person-centered approach, where your unique experiences, values, and perspective are prioritized. I draw from a range of evidence-based therapeutic approaches, tailoring each session to meet your specific needs, preferences, and goals. By integrating different therapeutic modalities, I create a safe and compassionate space where you can explore your emotions, build self-awareness, and work toward lasting personal growth. Together, we will find the approach that best supports you on your journey to emotional well-being and fulfillment.
